Of the many cities I recommend that everyone visit at least once, Seattle takes one of the top spots, if not the top. It has everything that makes the big city life great, from its unique culture to its grunge scene, and of course, its wide variety of restaurants.
If you plan to visit with your dog, though, you may be concerned about whether or not you’ll be able to experience Seattle’s dining scene. Fortunately, with the wide variety of dog-friendly restaurants Seattle boasts, you’ll have no trouble at all finding the perfect places to dig in! On that note, here are ten of my favorite dog-friendly restaurants in Seattle.
1. Norm’s Eatery & Alehouse
460 N 36th St., Seattle, WA 98103
Norm’s Eatery & Alehouse is one of the most dog-friendly restaurants Seattle has to offer, with two dog menu options for your pup to enjoy! Dogs are even allowed into the restaurant rather than just an outdoor patio as long as they’re leashed, quiet, and friendly. With delicious American fare for humans and dogs alike, Norm’s is one of those places that you absolutely must visit.
2. Portage Bay Cafe
2821 NW Market St., Seattle, WA 98107
Portage Bay Cafe is a trendy, upscale establishment located in the heart of Seattle. From-scratch breakfast and lunch fare is the standard here, complete with vegan and gluten-free options. Start your day right with a hot breakfast alongside your pup out on the patio.
3. Fremont Brewing
1050 N 34th St., Seattle, WA 98103
A prime location for Seattle’s active brewing community, Fremont Brewing is the perfect place to enjoy an ice-cold beer with your pup. Aside from their wide variety of craft beers, the brewery provides humans with free pretzels for you and dog treats for their pooches. Pay this brewery a visit with your pup, and take some time to relax!
4. The Barking Dog Alehouse
705 NW 70th St., Seattle, WA 98117
The Barking Dog is every bit as dog-friendly as the name would suggest, with an outdoor patio available for you and your pup to enjoy a meal together. There’s a wide variety of craft beers available for you to enjoy alongside your delicious casual bar fare.
5. The Lookout Bar & Grill
757 Bellevue Ave., Seattle, WA 98102
The Lookout Bar & Grill has everything you could ask for in one of the many dog-friendly restaurants Seattle has to offer: happy hour, cocktails, draft beer, and a variety of from-scratch sandwiches. Pay this small establishment a visit for a classic American restaurant experience alongside your best friend. With good food, a good atmosphere, and some canine companionship, it’s the perfect place to enjoy a meal over a casual conversation.
6. Le Pichet
1933 First Ave., Seattle, WA 98101
Capitalizing on the often-underutilized realm of French cuisine as well as Seattle’s active coffee community, Le Pichet has often been referred to as one of the greatest restaurants in the city, which shouldn’t be missed if you find yourself in the area. Dogs are welcome to dine alongside you on the outdoor patio, making it the perfect locale for fine dining, coffee, and sweets.
7. Ristorante Picolinos
6415 32nd Ave., Seattle, WA 98107
The perfect spot for fine Italian cuisine in Seattle, Ristorante Picolinos welcomes you and your pup into a world of decadence that you won’t be able to get enough of. With a wide variety of wine options, delicious entrees, and a full bar, you’ll almost feel as if you’ve been whisked away to Italy! You can dine along with your dog at any of the available outdoor tables.
8. The Tasting Room
1924 Post Alley, Seattle, WA 98101
The Tasting Room takes the best of Seattle’s wine-tasting scene, condensing it into one luxury establishment that shouldn’t be missed. Discover new culinary sensations with countless fine wines and cheeses available for your sampling. You can bring your dog with you, and they’ll even be welcomed inside!
9. Street Bean Coffee Roasters
2711 3rd Ave., Seattle, WA 98121
If there’s one thing Seattle’s cuisine is known for, it’s coffee. With its rich, unique coffee culture, it holds the honor of being the birthplace of massive chains such as Starbucks, as well as a number of small, locally-owned shops. One such shop is Street Bean Coffee Roasters, founded by and for the caffeine enthusiast of Seattle.
Not only do they serve up some of the highest-quality espresso money can buy, but they also roast their own coffee beans in-house, and even sell them to patrons! As if it couldn’t get any better, the coffee house is completely dog-friendly, so your pup can come inside to relax with you while you enjoy a nice cup of coffee.
10. Nielsen’s Pastries
520 2nd Ave. W, Seattle, WA 98104
Bringing authentic Danish flavors to Seattle, Nielsen’s Pastries has a bit of something for everyone, whether you’re after something to satisfy your sweet tooth or something more savory. Delicious pastries, hearty soups, and decadent desserts are all to be expected here, and with dog-friendly outdoor seating, it’s an excellent place for anything from a small snack to a full meal.
If you ever find yourself in Seattle, I strongly recommend visiting at least one of these restaurants, if not several. However, it’s not the only tourist destination city with dog-friendly dining! If you’re an avid traveler and love to take your pup along on the ride, check out my article on dog-friendly restaurants in Denver! No matter where you go, you’ll always be able to find kindred spirits in your love for adventure, food, and of course, dogs.
