Dog Found in Snowy Abandoned Building Does The Sweetest Thing When Rescued
Amidst the harsh conditions of single-digit temperatures, a dog was found in an abandoned building in St. Louis, Missouri. Living all alone in the snow, the dog was in a pitiful condition. With bleeding feet and scared out of her wits, the poor animal needed immediate help. (Watch the TikTok below)
After a challenging rescue, the team from Stray Rescue of St. Louis animal shelter was finally able to catch the dog and named her Dippin’ Dottie. Once rescued and brought into the shelter, the canine transformed into the most loving dog.
@strayrescuestl A couple of days ago, it was single digits. We found this dog living all alone in an abandoned building. Because it’s been so cold, the snow and ice won’t melt, causing hazardous situations for people and animals. When we found this little girl, we found blood in her paw prints in the snow. Her feet were bleeding from being out in the brutal elements. She was so scared at first when we found her. She wanted to trust us so badly, but she couldn’t take that leap of faith to come close enough to get a lead over her head. So we set a trap. Thankfully, she went in as she couldn’t’ resist a warm breakfast in her skinny body. Some of our police friends and heroes, Officer Ottengheime and Officer Stevens, were patrolling the area and met us at the property to help carry the trap down a steep staircase, covered in ice. (Shout out to Officer Ottengheime who helps us and so many animals all year long). We finally got her loaded in the warm Jeep, and knew her feet were finally thawing. When we got her into the shelter and out of the trap, she climbed up in everyone’s lap giving thankful wet kisses to everyone. She’s been the most affectionate little bundle of joy now that she is safe! From Snow To Safety
When the shelter staff attempted to rescue Dippin’ Dottie, they noticed blood in her paw prints on the snow. The brutal cold had left her feet raw and bleeding.
Despite desperately wanting to trust, fear kept Dottie from getting close enough for the team to secure her with a lead. Left with no other option, they set a humane trap. Her frail, starving body couldn’t resist the warm breakfast inside, and she was finally caught.
Officers Ottengheime and Stevens, patrolling nearby, assisted in carrying Dottie down a steep, icy staircase. The shelter shared that Officer Ottengheime frequently helps with rescues throughout the year.
Safely loaded into a warm Jeep, Dottie’s journey toward love, healing, and happiness officially began.
Heartfelt Transformation
Once fearful of the humans trying to save her, Dottie transforms into a lovebug after getting rescued. The moment she was out of her trap, she climbed up in everyone’s lap and gave them wet kisses, expressing her gratitude.
Due to her sweet and affectionate personality, she quickly became one of the favorites among the shelter staff. They named her Dippin’ Dottie because of the adorable little spots covering her black and white coat.
However, she had to live in a crate at the overcrowded shelter as the staff searched for a foster family to take her in. At last, she moved to a foster home and turned into the biggest cuddle baby – gentle and deeply grateful for her second chance at life.
