Chihuahua Sisters Huddled in the Shelter, Waiting for a Family That Never Came
Honey and Lola, two inseparable Chihuahua sisters, were heartbroken when their family left them behind at a shelter simply because they were moving away. Confused and terrified, the tiny duo clung to each other in a world they didn’t understand, left behind, alone, and unsure of what would come next.
@humanebroward Will you give them a chance? 🥺🙏 Honey (pointy ears) and Lola (floppy ears) are two little sisters who have been through so much in their short lives, yet they still have so much love to give. ❤️🩹 Just over a year old, these sweet chihuahuas were surrendered when their family moved and left them behind. 💔 At first, they were shy and unsure, but with patience, gentle care, and lots of enrichment from our behavior team, they are now showing us their true, joyful selves. They greet us with zoomies, happy barks, and remind us every day how resilient and loving dogs can be. 💕 Honey and Lola love people, playing with their squeaky toys, and simply being together. 🐾 🥰 They are good with other dogs and cats, and they would be happiest in a home where they can feel safe and loved. We would love to see these sisters go home together, where they can continue to blossom side by side. 🙏 If you have room in your heart for twice the love, Honey and Lola are waiting for you. ❤️ Can you give these besties the life they have been dreaming of? 🙏 If you cannot adopt, please share for Honey and Lola! To adopt these two, please complete the pre-adoption application at www.humanebroward.com and then stop by the Humane Society of Broward County to meet them. The shelter is located at 2070 Griffin Road in Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312 and opens at 11 a.m. If you have questions call 954-989-3977 ❤️ If you are unable to adopt or foster, you can still support the homeless pets at the Humane Society of Broward County by donating to our shelter through our link in bio. But love works wonders. After a year of patience and tender care, these once-scared pups have blossomed into affectionate, joyful little dogs. Now, they’re finally ready to leave the past behind and light up the hearts of a forever family.
Meet the Shelter’s Sweetest Sisters
Honey and Lola are sisters with a charming difference: Honey has tall, pointy ears, while Lola’s ears flop endearingly to the sides. But when they first arrived at the Humane Society of Broward County, the only thing louder than their ears was their silence.

They couldn’t understand that they were no more in the place they thought of as home and were instead in a shelter full of strange people and animals. The shy pair would huddle together in a spacious kennel, too nervous to explore or engage. Also, they kept their distance from shelter volunteers.
With time, love, and lots of chicken treats, the sisters began to trust again. Now, they’re two of the happiest pups at the shelter, greeting visitors with joyful zoomies, wagging tails, and sweet barks that tell the story of their incredible transformation.
Sister Duo Deserves a Second Chance

Honey and Lola have come a long way from their heartbreaking beginnings, but these resilient sisters are still waiting for a family to give them the forever love they’ve always deserved. With their playful spirits and affectionate personalities, they’re sure to bring joy and warmth to any home.
They adore squeaky toys, snuggling together, and simply being in each other’s company. A calm, loving home, perhaps one with other dogs or even cats, would be ideal for this sweet duo.
Staff at the Florida-based shelter dream of seeing them adopted together. If you’re ready to open your heart to two gentle, devoted souls, Honey and Lola are waiting to meet you.

“Watching Honey and Lola bloom into playful, loving pups is exactly why I believe in rescue; these girls are just waiting to complete someone’s family,” states Rocky Kanaka, pet rescue advocate.
If you think Honey and Lola could be the perfect addition to your family, head to the Humane Society of Broward County to meet them in person. You can fill out a pre-adoption application at www.humanebroward.com before your visit.
