Blue-Eyed Mama Dog Saved From Horrific Hoarding Situation, Ready for a Fresh Start
A couple of weeks ago, LA-based Wags & Walks Rescue was alerted to a hoarding situation like no other. Over 70 dogs — including puppies — were living in unsanitary conditions in a home in San Bernardino with no access to fresh water, food, and veterinary care. (watch TikTok below)
As narrated on the rescue’s TikTok account @wagsandwalksla, the animals were all under the care of an individual who’d take in dogs abandoned within the neighborhood. Sadly, this individual neglected the well-being of these innocent dogs, exposing them to undeserving suffering.
Once at the property, the rescue team wasted no time in saving the dogs from further distress. Among these dogs was Rowan, a 5-year-old mixed breed who had recently given birth.
Life-Saving Medical Care
@wagsandwalksla This past weekend we saved 33 dogs from an emergency case in San Bernardino where 70+ dogs lived on a property with an individual who independently took in dogs after they were abandoned in the neighborhood. Several dogs needed immediate emergency care and multiple puppies tested positive Parvo. Sadly, we lost one puppy last night and another tested positive today. Our hearts are heavy with the loss of sweet Cider but we’re doing everything we can to give the others a fighting chance. We desperately need help covering their medical expenses. The estimate for the Parvo puppies alone is $15,000, with costs exceeding $40,000 for the case. Thank you to everyone who has donated and shared their story. Perhaps sensing the rescuers’ good intentions, the dogs welcomed every gesture of help extended to them. Together, the rescue team carefully removed the dogs from the filthy home and transported them to a veterinary clinic.
Unfortunately, many of them required urgent emergency care, including puppies stricken with Parvovirus. Upon their arrival at the clinic, veterinarians sprang into action, ensuring each sick dog received the treatment and care they needed to regain their health.
With her puppies now grown, Rowan is ready to be part of a forever family that will offer her a lifetime of love.
Thankfully, Rowan and her puppies survived. Being in a safe, supportive environment allowed Rowan to care for her puppies to the best of her ability. She did this until the pups were independent enough to face life by themselves.
Rowan Needs a Forever Home
When you meet Rowan for the first time, you’ll be awestruck by her icy blue eyes that instantly make her stand out from the rest. Even better news? Besides being a head-turner, Rowan has an amazing personality, too.
Staff at the rescue describe Rowan as the sweetest “all-round gem of a pup” with a soft spot for cuddling. She’s dog-friendly, quick to make new friends, and is proving to be a fast learner as far as leash training and potty training are concerned.
Despite the traumatic hoarding experience, this 36-pound furry lovebug has made great strides in regaining her confidence — but she isn’t there yet.
