Rocky Kanaka (Animal Advocate):
Okay… If you’re watching this, it’s because you are a member of this community and from the bottom of my heart, thank you. We’re gonna make a pumpkin pie for dogs. This is my recipe, so let’s have some fun follow along in the video. And also I’ll put the step by step instructions and everything that you need in the description. A right in this post. And make sure you tag me on social media. I wanna see your pies, and more importantly, your dogs eating the pie.

Step number one, as you might guess: Pumpkin puree.
Pumpkin! And you use this a lot with the whole ranch, right?
Tye friis( Founder of Revered Rescue):
Yes. All for digestive problems, everything like that. We always put some in their food.
Rocky:
Okay, perfect. All right, so for our recipe, we’re gonna use in a standard pie pan, one pan of pumpkin. You wanna open that one? Let’s see your pie can opening skill set.
Tye:
I can do this <laugh>. Oh…
Rocky:
Okay… So pumpkin, pumpkin pie is actually a simple but delicious recipe. So why don’t you go ahead and throw that pumpkin in there. Pumpkin, you want, you want some too?

“Oh, there you go. Oh, Yeah baby!”
Rocky:

Okay. Crack an egg for me there. We’re gonna do two eggs. Oh, he’s got the skills. Tye’s got the skills to make the Barksgiving meals. Have a teaspoon of ginger. We’re do a teaspoon of cinnamon now. Dogs love cinnamon. And for senior dogs like Goliath here, it’s really great cuz it awakens that appetite. It’s a really great item to add to your dog treats. In a normal pumpkin pie you use condensed milk, but I have the best dog-safe alternative goat milk.

Tye:
Oooh! We use goat milk. It’s really good for dogs.
Rocky:
It’s really good for dogs. I’ve got the goats milk here. We’ll forward that in. Why don’t you whisk that up? Operate the oven to 425.

Tye:
You nee help?
Rocky:
A pie crust. Ooh. Typically has a lot of sugar in it. A lot of salt. Things that are not good for dogs.
Tye:
<laugh> That humans love.
Rocky:
I have been known to eat a pie crust too! So I’ve got a solution. This is how we make it at my house. We’ve got dog biscuits. These are dog biscuits I have at The Dog Bakery. So we’re gonna line the bottom. Can you help me with lining tray? “I like that,” Tye says… Now we want to put them all facing up…

Tye:
So we shouldn’t just do this… <pours bunch of biscuits all at once>
Rocky:
<laugh> Oh no, it’s like a pie crest puzzle. Okay. So well done, I would think… Yeah, I can definitely tell you you’ve had some big baking experience in your life. We’ve got the mini bones right here. All line. These are the bones that you can get at my store, The dog bakery. I bake these and then they’re good. You just pour the pie in there. You want to do the honors?

Tye:
It’s getting exciting.
Rocky:
Look at that.
Tye:
There we go. This is part the dogs will judge you on.
Rocky:
Yeah… If it’s not perfect. <laugh>
Alright, why don’t we do a layer of bones around there too? Yes. Okay. So we’re gonna bake this at 425 for 15 minutes in the oven. We’re gonna reduce the temperature to 350 and then do another 30 minutes so that the pie is just right and just check it when it’s done, if it’s brown, if it looks right. And make sure you give it hours to cool. So that it’s safe for your dog.

All right. We’re gonna top this off with a little sentiment. And then Goliaths pie is close to being ready. Yes. Okay. Fiona, that’s going in the oven. Oh, she’s so excited. Okay. All right. Let’s throw in the oven before she jumps up and grab or works with her. Great Dane friend. Hot time. All right, you’re It works chef. Teasing.
