Wilma- Back in early 2018 I had been volunteering at Barstow Humane Society, photographing the adoptable pets and sharing them online. I had also started volunteering there a few years before that. That is where I first met Trinity and her kennel mate, Wilma. At the time they were younger and full of spunk! They were kenneled together, so my sister and I took them out to photograph. They weren’t sure about the photography equipment so we had to help them feel comfortable. We took their pictures and posted them online. Little did we know, that started a 5 year journey with these two. Trinity and Wilma spent about 3 years at the shelter. At one point, they were adopted together, but then brought back because the owners were moving. They found themselves back at the shelter. When Covid hit, I went to Barstow Humane Society to look for a foster dog. That’s when I saw that Wilma and Trinity were back. I had already committed to fostering another dog but it broke my heart that I couldn’t bring them home with me too. Almost two years passed and I was spending that time trying to network them and see if any rescues would take them. No such luck…. finally in January of 2022 we were able to foster Wilma and Trinity. It’s been over a year of fostering these spunky girls and we still have not found their Forever Homes. That’s about 5 years of being in limbo for these girls. Unfortunately, we (my sister and I) are unable to adopt them because they do not like cats, and I have 3. We have spent over a year playing musical rooms to keep them separated from our cats. They do, however, get along great with other dogs of all sizes. They were originally thought to be bonded and now we think they can be separated as long as they are adopted into a home with other dogs/dog. We have learned so much about them this past year. Here’s some info on Wilma. Wilma is a gorgeous brindle boxer/pit mix. We also like to joke that she’s part capybara. ???? She is now 6-7 years old and still spunky. Wilma wants a home who will give her plenty of time to play and have fun. She loves tennis balls, especially the ones that squeak. She is very smart and likes to be challenged mentally and physically. She knows basic commands but likes to be a feee spirit. She LOVES car rides and seeing new things! Wilma can also be one of those pups who will just want to cuddle up on the couch to spend time with you. She is potty trained and walks well on leash. Wilma wants to be in a home where she will be loved and cared for Forever. She also LOVES bum scratches and getting all the attention. No cats, though, they cramp her style. She might be a little too rambunctious for small children. She gets along great with other dogs of different sizes. Wilma is a gorgeous girl in need of a wonderful Forever Home that will love and cherish her for the rest of her life. ❤ ❤ Here’s her shelter info.
