UPDATE 12/26/23 – This just in; right when Rocky posted his video, the team was notified Wilbur was ADOPTED! He is receiving the care he needs to take care of his condition, and will be in a relaxed loving home with his new mama, just in time for the new year. Happy tails, Wilbur!
Draco, nicknamed by Rocky “Wilbur,” is a small male Australian Shepherd mix who’s age at this time is unknown. At first glance when looking at him, Rocky thought he had a tumor or a simple bee sting that had swelled under his chin and neck, however it came to light that he was found by Animal Control with a zip tie around his neck, hence the swelling. On top of this, Wilbur had blood on his fur and pus on his paws, meaning this boy has had it rough.
Although he is an owner known at this time, it’s already evident Animal Control will be counseling the owner if they come back to retrieve Wilbur/Draco due to his condition to see what is going on before they make a decision.
Draco, aka Wilbur, is shut down and frozen, but eventually allows Rocky to scoop him into his lap and he relaxes. Wilbur is currently on hold and in isolation due to the owner known status and his condition; updates to come soon and it is to be determined at this point whether or not he will be publicly available for adoption holds. ***Please note that the shelter is unable to transport animals or complete out of state adoptions. Interested parties must visit the shelter in person to meet with the dog first.***
