Stewie’s story is a sad one. We found him tied to a pole outside of the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter, with a bag of food next to him and an old injury to his front leg. After multiple diagnostics, it seems that Stewie seems to have an old nerve injury that prevents him from fully using his front leg properly – but, he is not in pain! He gets around just fine and is happy as can be playing in the yards!
At first, Stewie is pretty weary of new people, but since being with us, he has warmed up to staff and shows his wonderful puppy-like personality! It is estimated that Stewie is around a 4-5 year old black Labrador. Stewie has had positive interactions with other dogs in the facility so far, and we are hoping someone out there is willing to open up their home for this special boy!
