Meet Sammie — affectionately known as “Wawa” — an 8–10-year-old, 9 lb Chihuahua with a mighty spirit and a heart full of love. Sammie came into rescue from a shelter in Bakersfield alongside her best friend, an obese retriever. Sadly, her companion passed away from pneumonia, and Sammie was left to mourn her loss. But this little survivor didn’t give up — she has since blossomed in foster care, bringing joy and quirky charm to everyone she meets.
Despite all she’s been through, Sammie remains incredibly sweet and gentle. She loves being held, enjoys pets, and has a playful way of exploring the backyard. She gets along beautifully with humans and large dogs alike, showing none of the typical “snippy Chi” behavior. She’s also recently had a dental and is in great health, ready for her next chapter. Sammie is the perfect companion for anyone looking for a loving, low-key, and affectionate senior pup who still has so much life to live and love to give.
