Duke Atreidis is a handsome 2-year-old Husky with a soft, expressive face and a heart that’s still learning how to trust again. Originally adopted from Animal Friends of the Valleys as a young pup, Duke was recently returned by his previous owner on April 18, 2025. Now, he’s finding himself back in the shelter, scared and unsure of the world around him.
His former owner shared helpful notes: Duke is good with children, slept indoors, enjoys car rides, and is leash-trained. He’s housebroken, does well during grooming, and responds to treats—but he’s also prone to chewing and digging if left unsupervised. While his experience with other dogs and obedience training is partially known, AFV staff can provide more insight to interested adopters.
Right now, Duke is deeply timid and overwhelmed by the shelter environment. Though he’s wary of touch, he shows no aggression—only fear. Volunteers describe him as sweet, sensitive, and well-behaved, and they’ve seen glimmers of joy when he’s out on walks, taking in the world with his nose to the ground. With time, patience, and love, Duke has every potential to blossom into the loyal, affectionate dog he was meant to be.
