Sasha is a spunky 8 year old female Husky. She was discovered in a house by a cleaning company/individual when her owner moved out, leaving her behind with only water and tragically – in pain full of hundreds upon hundreds of foxtails. If she was not discovered by the cleaning company, it’s not certain where Sasha would be now. They called in Animal Control for Riverside County, where they came right away to bring her to the San Jacinto shelter location.

While there, Sasha immediately began receiving treatment for the painful foxtails by San Jacinto’s on site health team. Due to the sheer amount of foxtails embedded in her skin, unfortunately they had to resort to taking drastic action – shaving her down. For a Husky and their unique double coats, this is often the very last thing anyone would want to do, which speaks to how serious her foxtail situation was. She is currently receiving further treatment for swelling on her body (including on one of her back legs, which is why one looks bigger than the other) where a foxtail likely drove too deep into her skin, causing infection. The swelling is going down day by day!

Now, Sasha has been pulled by Woof Tribe rescue, where she is continuing further treatment. They are still currently giving her frequent exams as foxtails continue to get discovered – even after several removal sessions! When Sasha is healthier and ready at the rescue, she will need a loving forever home who she can rely on never to abandon her or allow her to get into a foxtail riddled state again.
