Ryder is a small black Schnauzer in isolation at Animal Friends of the Valleys who came in nearly a week prior to Rocky discovering him. Without knowing so much as whether they were male or female or first, Rocky sat in with Ryder, noting the XOXO ‘warning’ on the kennel card and nicknaming them after knowing the following story. Ryder had apparently came in from an animal control pick up. According to the reporting party, they found the dog after stopping in the middle of the highway presumably to help Ryder out in the open, and then the dog hopped into their car and wouldn’t let the good samaritan back into their own car. Animal Control at that point was called to bring them to the shelter. Rocky also discovers she is female after sitting with her for a while.
At this time, this pup is in isolation because of her behavior, however staff have been working with her day by day to slowly gain her trust. Ryder will need a dedicated adopter who will understand she needs time and space to decompress before blossoming into the dog she’s meant to be!
