Meet Poppy, a clever little firecracker born around May 15, 2025, and expected to top out around 25 lbs. This spunky pup came to Joyful Rescues as an 8-week-old puppy from a breeder who couldn’t sell her due to a “bit” of an attitude. She was nearly scheduled for euthanasia, but thankfully she landed in loving hands and found a soft place to grow and learn.
Poppy is highly intelligent, playful, and full of personality. She’s a bundle of energy with other dogs—roughhousing, zooming, and living life like she’s ten times her size. But with humans, Poppy is selective and marches to her own drum. She bonds slowly, on her terms, and requires a calm, patient, and experienced adopter who understands her unique personality. Touch her unexpectedly, and she might jump, nip, or dart away—but with trust, she shows incredible affection, leaning into petting and letting you handle her with care.
