Pickles, nicknamed by the team, is a 5 month old Chiweenie mixed male. He was found at a park in a nearby city and brought into Animal Friends of the Valleys by a good samaritan. When Rocky comes across him, he’s very nervous and frozen, lifting paws and trembling in fear, and was shocked to hear that it was already his 4th day at the shelter based on his behavior. Later, it’s discovered that Pickles was found with another dog, who looks somewhat similar to him, however is a female with a cherry eye. It’s unclear where Pickles (or the other pup) came from, and without a microchip or collar, he will be available for adoption. Pickles has a wonderful turnaround, from shivering in fear to allowing Rocky to cuddle him and even almost falls asleep. Rocky puts a thunder shirt on him to feel the comfort from compression further after he is gone.
Where is Pickles Now?
Thankfully, not long after filming, things were worked out with Lucky Chi Dog Rescue, where they took not only Pickles, but also the other dog he was found with. They will be available for adoption once they are able to get a proper veterinary check up to ensure they have clean bills of health. The latest update, as of 04.30.25, we got word the female Chihuahua has been adopted! However, Pickles is still spending time with Lucky Chi Dog Rescue in order to get more comfortable and build more confidence before he’s ready to go to a new home.
