UPDATE: Monster’s new name is now MONTY thanks to everyone’s suggestions! Although Sunny won in the voting polls, the name Monty popped up overwhelmingly on socials with hundreds of comments rolling in agreeing. Monty it is!
Monty a 6 year old male Terrier mix, came into the shelter less than a week before Rocky came across him. After an unfortunate eviction, he was surrendered by his parents as there was an incident with the other dog in the home – they got into a fight over food, and after the event, Monty has been terrified, and has never been the same since. His parents felt they had no other options, and decided to bring him in, with tears in their eyes. They also considered how horrified he may be without them in his life, and didn’t know if putting him down would be the best option, but the shelter immediately intervened and said they would evaluate him and not jump to that route. At the time of his surrender, the shelter team was unable to health check him as was “overstimulated” and needed more time.
Monty shows hesitation at first, but then takes treats right from Rocky’s hand! Although he is still only tolerant of petting at this point, the sit down showed he had hope on the horizon to move onto greener pastures with a family who is patient with him. He may also get a new nickname – all up to the audience! Monty is currently at Animal Friends of the Valleys in Wildomar, CA.
