This beautiful purebred American Eskimo Dog was the companion of a senior lady from the time she was a puppy. Sadly, the lady was recently taken to an Alzheimer care facility and her home was sold. The couple who bought the home found Lovey living in the backyard! The neighbors, who had been feeding the dog, filled in the details and the home buyer set out to find a rescue to take Lovey.

Sadly, none of the local rescue groups were interested in taking a mature Eskie, and the shelter could only promise to euthanize her. When the couple contacted me it had become a last-minute situation requiring a temporary boarding arrangement and a thirteen hour transport to get her here! Thankfully, I was able to put the needed arrangements together in time to save Lovey from a death sentence at a local shelter. She came here shaved to the skin (an unfortunate “favor” from an area “groomer”) and covered with ticks.

Nonetheless, she was happy to be safe and secure, and quickly found a favored spot on the living room sofa! She’s settled in beautifully with the other dogs and cats, and even enjoys visiting with the ducks and goats when she’s outside. She absolutely loves her fresh raw goat milk breakfast and is thriving on the raw diet. I’m guessing her age to be about seven, and she has no health or behavioral problems. She weighs about thirty pounds, maybe a little less. She would love to be with someone who appreciates her incredible intelligence and truly affectionate nature. I would like to see her kept on her raw diet and holistic health care. This is a very special girl and she deserves only the best.
