Larry the Chihuahua

Larry, nicknamed by the team, is a sweet 10 year old male Chihuahua who is definitely in need of a compassionate retirement home. He arrived at our shelter a couple of weeks ago after being left in the night drop. Although he had a microchip, staff spent the last 14 days making every effort to contact his previous family without any luck. Larry needs patience and TLC, for more reason than just his abandonment. During his initial health evaluation, the health check team noted that Larry is completely blind, and could be the result of old corneal injuries that never properly healed. He also arrived a bit neglected; he is currently underweight, has overgrown nails, and has severe tartar buildup on his teeth that will require future dental care. 

Because he cannot see, Larry navigates the world through his other senses and will likely thrive best in a calm, predictable environment. A quiet home where the furniture isn’t moved around too often will help him confidently map out his new space – Rocky notes this as he’s an expert with blind pups considering his dog Kobe is blind himself. He needs a patient family who understands the unique and incredibly rewarding experience of loving a blind, senior dog. With consistent meals to help him reach a healthy weight, some veterinary care, and a whole lot of love, Larry is ready to blossom into a wonderful, loyal companion.
