Kay is a 4 year old female Boxer that is new to the shelter, and was only on her 2nd day in at Animal Friends of the Valleys when Rocky discovers her with an XOXO on her kennel card. At this shelter, ‘XOXO’ usually meaning to proceed with caution and go slow. Unfortunately for Kay, she was an owner turn in, and actually came in with three other dogs – all Boxers. The reason for surrender was because the owner said one of the dogs went after the puppy in the home and bit the dog, but the owner isn’t sure which one of the dogs was actually responsible. Although the dogs are usually fine themselves, the owner has a small child at home, and they are afraid the child will be in the wrong place at the wrong time. All four dogs, including this girl, are not fixed and according to the previous home, the owner had litters of puppies they were having trouble getting them rehomed – this could imply Kay has had puppies before. We can also infer based on the owner’s turn in questionnaire that this girl and the other dogs were backyard dogs and kept as such, and even her canines were worn and broken far beyond what a normal 4 year old dog should have.
Kay is now adoption available and ready for a new loving home at Animal Friends of the Valleys. She will need some training and patience as she adapts to a life that is not in a backyard, however in return she will be a wonderful loving companion for a good family!
