UPDATE: Katie has been RESCUED!
Katie was found by a good samaritan as a stray and brought into the shelter in a tough state. She has Demodex mange that has taken over her skin, and at only 1-year-old, she is immunocompromised and isn’t built to handle the mites, which is causing her skin condition along with swollen paws. She is thought to be an Australian Shepherd mix, and is currently on medication thanks to the shelter to help ease her irritation.
Despite her alopecia and uncomfortable skin issues, Katie has been in good spirits, and although she is a bit shy at first, quickly comes around and enjoys playing and attention just as much as any other pup her age. Katie is currently in isolation and not available just yet for public adoption, as she needs to heal more from her skin condition. But Animal Friends of the Valleys is looking for a rescue to take her and help her heal to full health so she is ready for adoption in the future!
