UPDATE: Jill was ADOPTED! Jack is still currently waiting for his forever home.
Jack and Jill, nicknamed by Rocky based on the children’s story, are 8-week-old, un-chipped puppies – a male black Heeler mix and a female white Pit Bull mix. They were brought in overnight after being found at an apartment complex pool by Animal Control, and they had to be cornered into the pool bathroom in order to be picked up safely (both puppies were scared). Both puppies are emaciated with a body condition score of 2/5, exhibiting prominent skeletal definition and no palpable fat. Their poor physical state and abnormal joint angles suggest a significant Vitamin D deficiency caused by malnutrition, prompting a strict “no return to owner without counsel” hold.
Jack and Jill, despite having a rough start in life, are showing forgiveness and joy towards people and the world, despite their initial apprehension. With the shelter arranging feeding schedules now for the two in order to help them gain healthy weight, the pups are sure to be on the right track to recovery. Health check stated for the pups to be considered within a normal weight range, they’d need to gain at least 3 lbs.
Now, the pups are ready for adoption! Jack and Jill are not a bonded pair, and can be adopted into separate homes comfortably. The pups are resilient, doing incredibly well for their baths, and are leaning more into their puppyhoods again as they gain their strength. ***Jack and Jill are available at Animal Friends of the Valleys in Wildomar, CA. Jack’s ID is #819630, and Jill’s ID is #819631. ***Please contact Animal Friends of the Valleys for inquiries. Please note however that local adoption interest will be prioritized!
