Franklin, a Chihuahua Terrier mix nicknamed by Rocky’s team, came into the shelter just two days before getting sat with as he was found by someone and turned into the shelter. The interesting tidbit regarding the person who brought Franklin in is that they had also brought in a nearly identical dog almost 2 years ago to the day, found in the same area. This may just be a complete coincidence, but is also worth noting considering otherwise, we don’t have any other information about Franklin, other than he may be around 5 – 6 years old.
When Rocky sits with Franklin, it’s clear he’s nervous and is also warned he may bite, so Rocky takes extra precaution. It soon becomes clear despite his tough and barking exterior, Franklin is definitely capable of being a normal pup, it’s just without guidance, he is lost and defensive. Thankfully, it’s discovered that Franklin seems to feel more secure when able to walk around his kennel on a leash, as a part of multiple methods Rocky tries to get him out of his shell. From this, Rocky proposes Franklin is put on the dog walking program when ready, and as expected – Franklin does an almost complete 180 in his confidence and attitude!
Franklin is available for adoption; as of 04/24/25, he was pulled from Animal Friends of the Valleys by Haven Pet Center and will be available to adopt through Haven Pet Center’s organization. Haven Pet Center may have Franklin currently in a holding period, which may explain why he is not visible on the website just yet, but please continue to check in to their adoptable pets page! ***Please contact Haven Pet Center for adoption inquiries.
