Finley was brought to Ace of Hearts Dog Rescue when his owner was no longer able to care for him. Finley had reportedly bitten her a few times and she couldn’t figure out what to do to help him/stop the biting behavior. He’s since been with one of our fosters and has had some work with one of our trainers.
Finley is a relatively independent dog. He enjoys being pet and enjoys attention, but on his terms! If he comes up to you asking for pets, he’ll love the affection and love being held. However, if he’s picked up or handled while he’s not ready or in the mood, he will give a warning and then bite. He’ll need a loving home that understands his cues and knows not to push too much love on him if he’s not feeling it.
Finley gets along well with other dogs, big and small, and when he’s in the right mood he even becomes playful! He’s being fostered in a home with a puppy and is doing well with her!
Finley’s ideal home is with one or two adults who understand that he won’t always want affection. He should be in a home with no children since kids tend to want to love on dogs a little more than Finley is prepared for. In the right home, Finley absolutely thrives and has a fantastic personality. He has a lot of love to give, he just needs the right home to help him feel at ease and ready to share that love.
