UPDATE: ELLIOT HAS BEEN ADOPTED
Hi, my name is Elliot. You probably know be from being here at the Des Moines County Humane Society. I came in as a stray on March 6th, 2023, and these wonderful people have taken such good care of me since then.
When I came in, as a stray running wild, I showed these people all the tricks I could do, and they loved it and felt I would have no problem finding a home. From my charm to my dapper good looks, I was confident that I would find a good home as well. Well, I guess we all were wrong, I’ve been counting the days till I find my home. So far, it’s been 296 days and counting, I’m feeling a little stressed but my people here at the shelter make sure I get out to play, they take me on long walks and give me all these awesome toys to carry around with me.
When you come to see me, you will most likely see me with my favorite toy in my mouth. And don’t be alarmed when I’m in my kennel, I bark and jump up because I just want someone to take me out of my kennel and play with me. If I scare you, I’m sorry that’s not my intentions I promise I’m a big lover. I even like to play with some other dogs as well.
The shelter staff have trusted me enough to take me on some adventures to see other people and some dogs too these places they call events. I kind of like them and I get a lot of attention, it’s really fun. I have been to a couple of them and was trying to work my charm on some of those ladies but again I guess my charm isn’t as magical as I was hoping. I’m still here and I still have a bunch of friends here at the shelter that love me as if I were their own.
My best friend Free, our dog specialist, man he’s pretty cool and he gives me lots of outside time, but I know eventually he will have to start working more with some of my other pals that are sitting in their cages as well to help them out. I want to find my own home so that someone else will be able to get the love and attention they need to get out of here too. So, I guess what I’m asking is for a chance to make someone happy. I promise I’m a good boy you can ask everyone here at the shelter. Would you please give me a chance and at least come see me.
My old owner came to see me after a few months, but he never came back for me, that hurt some. I hope my next one will always come after me. P.S. Thank you to all the shelter staff that have cared for me this whole time and have faith in me. They are pretty amazing people that I will always consider my family. Once last thing, just rescuing 1 dog from a shelter gives one more dog a chance at a better life. Here is one of my favorite quotes. “Saving one dog will not change the world, but surely for that one dog, the world will change forever.” – Karen Davison P.S.S I am located in Burlington, Iowa, they like you to come and meet me before getting adopted, and I would like to meet your pups if they are going to live with me, so I know if we will get along or not. I hope you can make the journey here if you are interested. Love Elliot
