This young lady, nicknamed Ellie after monthly members/subscribers of Rocky Kanaka’s community voted on her new name, is a 10-month-old female Hound mix who was found by a parent and their child near the lakeside with no collar or microchip to be found. Once Animal Control brought her to the shelter, it was quickly evident she was extremely nervous and would pancake to the ground when approached. Ellie was health checked and because of her dirty ears and coat, it’s clear she had been running around on the street for a little while.
Although it has been a week since her arrival, Rocky sits down with her as she still unfortunately continues to remain in a vulnerable and fearful state. Ellie’s sad droopy eyes combined with her quick scampers away to the corner of the kennel when approached by anyone mean it would be challenging for her to get the attention of a loving home than if she were more confident and approachable.
