UPDATE 03/17/25: The name has been chosen thanks to you! This girl’s nickname is Kay.
This adult female Chihuahua/Terrier mix (we are not sure how old she is right now due to not being able to be properly health checked at the time of filming with her), was dropped off in the shelter’s night drop by someone who apparently found her at a Circle K. When health check initially tried to examine her, they failed due to her fearful and defensive behavior, but they did note she had matting on her tail and behind her ears. Staff is now working with her to try to get her out of this state she’s in, and they managed to get her out of her kennel even at one point. After Rocky sits with her, she shows she can absolutely be a loving pup, she just needs someone to respect her space and move slow. Patience is key with a girl like her, and it’s likely young children will not be the most compatible with her, as sudden movements at this time can cause her to put her walls up again.
Rocky’s dog loving community will pick out her nickname, so stay tuned! This girl is currently at Animal Friends of the Valleys in Wildomar, CA. Her ID is #767201. ***Please note that Animal Friends of the Valleys is unable to transport animals. Adoptions are first come, first serve. Pets must be visited with in person prior to an adoption. Rocky Kanaka is not responsible for adoption processes and interested parties must go through the shelter for more details on adopting.***
