Carter was at a municipal shelter that has to euthanize animals when they are full, and he was on their list to be euthanized. It was so sad because he ended up there because his owner passed away, and we knew that the right home for him had to be out there, so a volunteer drove across the state to get him and bring him to the shelter.

Carter is very people-friendly and just loves being loved on and given attention.
Carter is not good with small dogs or cats. He seems to be sort of a “dominant” dog who is fine with some calm dogs of his same size, but he very much chooses which dogs he gets along with. Carter is good with SOME dogs. meet and greet is required to see if they get along. Carter would probably be fine with older children.

He was the only pet in his owner’s home, and his owner passed away, so he wasn’t really socialized with other animals. He is very good with people, and the shelter we got him from actually had him as their front office greeter because he loves people.

He does have skin allergies that need to be managed by a vet, which might be another reason he was having trouble being adopted, and he is allergic to chicken, so you will have to read ingredient lists carefully when buying him food or treats. We really just want him to have a wonderful home. It’s really sad when we get lists from other shelters of animals they are going to have to put down, and as soon as we saw Carter, we wanted to come up with a plan to save him.
