Good with:
Dogs – Yes
Cats – Yes – he is curious and will get excited and bark at them which will scare mine but never chase them.
Kids – Yes – he is a cuddler and just wants to love and snuggle

Yard Needs: Fenced preferred as he loves to run and jump. With his mix he is going to get a little taller / longer and could be a jumper. But is doing good with training so far.

Likes/Dislikes: He hates being left alone. He would benefit from someone that works from home or retired. He just wants to cuddle. He loves food, treats, attention, learning to play with his foster sisters and tugging etc.

Obedience Training: He is learning Sit, Stay, Wait (food bowl) Down/Off (he like to put his paws up on counters etc)

Temperament: Howie does have some food / bone aggression. I believe this is because of him coming from a mill farm. He has displayed it with us as well as a previous foster. If another dog gets near him while waiting or while eating, he will snap and start a fight. The same with a bone or enrichment for going in the crate he became aggressive over.

He will let you take items with no issue; it is just when another dog or possible even cat I would imagine would come near him he would react like this. We are attempting to work with him on this. We were able to have him eat his morning breakfast about 2 feet from our girls with no incidents.

Medical: None known

How can you not fall in love with these amber eyes… I get lost in them every time he looks at me.

Howie is a talker at times and does have the hound howl / bark. But we are also working with him to learn hush / quiet to settle him. At this time he is not a reactor at doors etc… but when he wants something that his foster sissys have he will get vocal and let them know he wants it… or if he wants to play and they are ignoring him he will speak up.

Then you will just be sitting there, and he will come over and place his head on your lap and want to be picked up to curl up in your lap and fall asleep.

As I mentioned we are working on potty training with bells on our door and wearing belly band – which he has no issue with and does not attempt to take it off. He usually does sleep all night in his crate without waking us up. I think once he has woken us up whining around 4 AM needing to go out.

Howie would do great I think in almost any situation and would make a great addition to almost any family. He would definitely benefit from some obedience training to continue to work on any aggression issues and would really benefit having another puppers in the house with him to learn, play and grow from. Please contact us for more information on this cutie patootie. <3
