Billy is a 10 month old male Border Collie/Lab mix that came into the shelter just a day prior to being discovered by Rocky in the shelter’s new arrival area, Sally Port. A local citizen had noticed the dog on his property for about a week before calling into Animal Control to pick him up once the dog apparently ‘attacked’ their goat, and from there, Billy was brought into the shelter. Without a collar or a microchip, no owner is known, and it’s clear that he had been out on the streets for a while as his coat was dirty and his paws were worn greatly.
Rocky sits in with this pup, noticing not only how he attempted to get others to leave him alone, but also that he wouldn’t move for anything, even treats, when first sitting in with him. The nickname ‘Billy’ comes from the term ‘billy goat,’ considering the circumstances of his arrival. Billy, although nervous and a tough nut to crack because of his lack of confidence, it’s clear he’s intelligent and attentive – and there is definitely a playful spirit in him that’s waiting to come out if a family just takes the time needed to help him grow!
