From “Fallon Barr”, a veterinary technician for over 10 years and a walker for about 8:

“Within the last year, I’ve opened my own boarding business, and over the Summer, we had someone forfeit their pup, Atilla, to us. The owners were two small, elderly women in their 80’s and they had found Atilla on the side of the highway in the snow one winter when he was just a puppy. He had never been socialized, and had grown into a 90lb Czech Shepherd.

Needless to say, the two women couldn’t handle a pup his size and were thinking about euthanizing him. At the time, he wasn’t neutered, and had zero obedience training. He’s come a long way, but still has a long way to go. He is estimated to be about 3 years old. He is fully vaccinated for Lyme, Lepto, Distemper/Parvo, Rabies, and Bordetella.

He received full bloodwork, including a GI panel to rule out EPI which is a common issue among the breed. We were able to get him neutered, and put him into an obedience training course. Due to his lack of socialization as a puppy, he’s become reactive to other animals. His on leash obedience has worked wonders for him, and he’s a great pup during outings, but should not be in a household with other animals. It results in anxiety and confusion for him.

He can be in parks, and enjoy outings without becoming reactive towards other passing pups, but he would need an experienced handler who is aware of his setbacks and can work with him on obedience in those difficult, anxiety inducing moments. Shepherds are never a first time pup for anyone looking to adopt, so it’s important to us that we are fully transparent and honest about what he will need.

Aside from this shortcoming, Atilla absolutely loves squeaky toys, fetch, practicing commands, long walks, hugs, cuddles, and, above all, to be in the company of humans. He’s a big loaf in need of affection. He is super playful and has a high drive to play with his toys. Overall, he is a really sweet people-dog. If we didn’t have two of our own pups, and a kitty, he’d be more than welcome to be loved by us forever.

Atilla definitely deserves a loving home. We are not looking to make a profit, we just want to see to it that he has a loving forever family, and isn’t going to be tossed around for the rest of his life. If you’re interested in meeting the big loaf, please call or text (917) 497-0095 to schedule an appointment! I know we’d all love to meet you!”
