Amara and her brother were picked up in The Twin Cities area of Minnesota, running loose. Unknown at the time, they are deaf so they didn’t respond to AC, it took some doing to catch them. Rescue partners weren’t interested in bringing them in out of the shelter, which isn’t equipped to adopt to the public.
An animal advocate reached out to see if Emotional Rescue could take them, since we excel with special needs dogs. Once Amara and her brother understood that humans could communicate, it was a whole new ball game! They quickly learned sign language for sit, kennel up, come and “respect my space” (because they’re big, strong and think life is like bumper cars!) Amara leans in for serious body contact. Simple pets are not enough. When she relaxes, she is fully committed and snores away.
She is a lover of toys and constantly is sneaking back the toys her brother steals. Together, they play and rough house! Amara has been looking for a home for two and a half years. She’ll have a place here as long as she needs it but she DESERVES a home and family to love forever! Amara was born in 2020 and would do fine as an only dog or with her brother. A fenced yard is a must so she can be free to explore and discover everything in her domain! She is fully vaccinated, microchipped and spayed.
