UPDATE 04/11/24 – Albert has just gone to rescue and is currently in foster care where he will be worked with on his behavior to gain his confidence back, and will not be adoption available just yet at this rescue. Please stay tuned!

This 1-year-old Terrier mix male was found running alone near an Albertsons locally by a good samaritan. The shelter suspects it’s possible that he came from the nearby apartments, yet it’s been days and no one has come to claim this boy, plus without a microchip or ID, there is no way to contact a potential owner. The good samaritan claims he was ‘shivering’ when they picked him up to take him to the shelter.

Nicknaming him Albert, Rocky sits with him as this boy is frozen in fear with whale eyes, non stop shaking, and is refusing to take treats. Thankfully, after a while relaxing with Albert, he finally allows himself to be scooped into Rocky’s lap and stops shaking. He even begins to take treats. Albert will just need patience with a new family who decides to scoop him up and they must ensure he has a calm environment to decompress in with a stable consistent routine to allow his best self to emerge in time. Because Albert is very frightened, it is highly recommended any small children are supervised very closely when interacting with him or kept separate during his crucial first few weeks with a new family. Any dogs at home are highly recommended to do a meet and greet as well with Albert before adopting.

Albert is available at Animal Friends of the Valleys in Wildomar, CA. His ID is #719213. ***Please note that Animal Friends of the Valleys is unable to transport animals. Adoptions are first come, first serve. Pets must be visited with in person prior to an adoption. Rocky Kanaka is not responsible for adoption processes and interested parties must go through the shelter for more details on adopting.***
