Adopted and Returned 3 Times — The Heartbreaking Journey of a Pitbull Who Just Wants to Be Loved
Patches, a young female Pit Bull Terrier, has endured a series of heartbreaking circumstances that no dog should have to face. Initially found abandoned in an RV in California, she was living in appalling conditions alongside several other dogs when animal control intervened and rescued her. (Watch video below)
After being taken in, Patches was adopted, but her happiness was short-lived. She was returned when her adopter discovered they had a dog allergy. Unfortunately, her story did not improve from there. Patches was adopted two more times, only to be returned on both occasions. The reasons given for these returns were an apartment deemed too small for her and a lack of time to properly care for her.
Despite these setbacks, Patches remains a “chill and amazing” dog, according to those who have cared for her. Volunteers and advocates are hopeful that by sharing her story, they can find the right adopter who will offer Patches the stable and loving home she so deserves.

At present, Patches is with Sandy Dog Rescue. Sharing her story on social media, the Southern California-based rescue is urging people to come forward and give this wonderful and unlucky dog another chance to be the perfect canine companion.
Pet Rescue Advocate Rocky Kanaka said, “Patches has been let down through no fault of her own, and it’s heartbreaking. She’s a loving dog who just needs the right family to give her the time, space, and love she deserves. With Sandy Dog Rescue’s dedication, I truly believe her perfect match is out there.”
Rescue’s Plea To Take Patches Home
It is evident that the poor dog has had a hard time finding a forever home despite having the sweetest temperament. Patches is dog-friendly and is great with kids. She loves all humans and wants to be around them all the time.
All this dog needs is a home with structure, patience, and plenty of love. With the right forever family, Patches is sure to thrive and find her happiness.
