Tears as Sweet Pitbull Spends Quarter of Her Life in Concrete Shelter

The emotional and psychological effects of even short-term shelter stays on dogs can be devastating. Shelters are noisy, and full of other stressed-out dogs. Even the best shelters with the most funding struggle to keep their resident dogs happy—waiting for a forever home is never fun, even if you live in the best conditions.

For dogs that spend weeks and even months in shelters, the stress and fear can be overwhelming. Many dogs shut down after spending too long in a shelter, and while they may still cling to hope, you won’t see their true, happy personalities again until they find a forever home.

Juno has spent more than 9 months or over 280 days at the Tri-Cities Animal Shelter in Pasco, Washington. At just four years old, Juno has spent nearly a quarter of her life in a concrete kennel, staring at the same view every single day. Like many Pitbulls in shelters, Juno has had to watch potential adopter after potential adopter pass her by despite her sweet, gentle, even disposition.

So, let’s get the word out about Juno! It is long overdue for her to find a forever home, and we can help build awareness for Juno and other dogs like her struggling to find adopters.

Juno is an approximately 4-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier mix who arrived at the Tri-Cities Animal Shelter on October 14th, 2023. Blue with white markings and gorgeous amber eyes, Juno is the kind of Pittie that Pit lovers dream of—total velvet hippo vibes!

Playful and curious, Juno is very attentive when she gets a chance to come out of her kennel and spend time with humans. She loves to play with tennis balls, romp in the grass, and show off her skills like giving paw and sitting beautifully for treats. Friendly and social, Juno wags at everyone she sees and has a smile that will melt your heart.
