Overcoming a Painful Past
When rescuers first met Aurora, who was then known as Roxy, their hearts broke for the terrified Shepherd. Her trembling body and fearful reactions suggested a history of physical abuse, likely at the hands of a male figure. Yet, beneath her fear, she longed for love.
The moment they freed her from the kennel, Aurora melted into her rescuers’ arms, grateful to be safe. Little did she know, she wasn’t just getting a second chance at life—she was on her way to a forever home filled with the love she had always deserved.
Fateful Adoption
Aurora’s new mom, Heather wasn’t planning to adopt a dog—until she saw the dog’s video. Watching the trembling Shepherd flinch in fear, her heart broke, and she knew she had to help. Without hesitation, she applied to adopt her.
Fate seemed to step in when Heather received the news that Aurora was now their dog—on her birthday. It was a perfect match as they flew for 3 hours to bring her home.
After going to her forever home, Aurora has become a completely different dog. No more cowering in fear, she sleeps at the foot of her parents’ bed and the moment Heather gets up in the morning, she runs to her and snuggles in her lap.
Additionally, the dog who was once afraid of men now melts into the arms of her new dog dad, proving to be a source of comfort for her. According to her family, “It’s like she was always meant to be here in Colorado. She fits in perfectly.”
