This Water-Loving Terrier Is Desperate for Freedom After 100 Days in Shelter

Shelter dogs face a tough reality, often forced to suppress their true personalities and give up the activities they love. Many spend their days confined in kennels, even when they crave the freedom to run, play, and bond with people. Such is the fate of Angel, a Terrier mix, around 4 years old.

Angel is 70 lbs of sweetness and affection. She is currently at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter in Wantagh, New York. According to the shelter staff, she loves two things the most: interacting with her human friends and splashing in the baby pool. But sadly, she is withering away at the shelter, unable to live life like a normal dog.

Dog Was Found At A Public Pool

The Terrier mix was found at a local public pool on a hot spring day and she was brought to the shelter by a Good Samaritan. Thus, the shelter staff has no idea what was Angel’s previous life like and how did she end up alone at the public pool.

Since then, Angel has been at the shelter for over 100 days, where she gets to have one hour of happiness, playing in the baby pool and getting human affection. But the remaining 23 hours of her daily life are spent in a cemented kennel. Full of love and life, this 4-year-old girl is losing her spark in the lonely, isolating shelter environment

Can You Give Angel A Loving Home?

Angel is an extremely sweet dog who would love nothing more than to have a home where she is loved and gets to play in the water.

“Shelters can be really scary for dogs and this is definitely the case for Angel, who’s really struggling in the shelter environment,” said Rocky Kanaka, pet rescue advocate. The shelter is desperately looking to rehome Angel so she gets to have the life she deserves.

The shelter staff says that her potential adoptive parent must be “dog savvy” and she can only go to a home where everyone is above 15 years old.

In addition, Angel seems to want to be friends with other dogs but the shelter’s trainer will have the final say on whether she can go to a home with another dog.

Therefore, if you meet all these requirements, you are welcome to contact the shelter and take Angel home. Just send an email to [email protected]. If you are willing to foster or rescue Angel, you can email at [email protected] and [email protected] respectively.
