But you’ll be shocked to learn that not so long ago, Sylvester was a few steps away from the grave. Found dumped in a junkyard with deep, raw wounds suspected to have been inflicted by a knife or machete, rescuers had very little hope that Sylvester would survive. Nobody knew what exactly transpired, but it was clear that whoever attacked Sylvester left him for dead. This sweet boy endured agonizing pain for days before a good samaritan spotted him and called for help.
A Miraculous Recovery
Once rescuers got to Sylvester, they rushed him to the Animal Welfare Society of South Florida for specialized treatment and care.
Sylvester’s entire body was pretty much a patchwork of raw wounds. His wounds were badly infected and part of his skin was already dying away. Day and night, vets worked tirelessly to offer him round-the-clock care. Even though the extent of his suffering said otherwise, the veterinarian team chose to believe that life had something much better in store for Sylvester.
And they were right.
As time went by, Sylvester started to show signs of recovery. His wounds began to heal and fur started to grow on his exposed skin. Through it all, Sylvester maintained a fighting spirit. He opened his heart to trusting the people caring for him, letting go of the traumatic ordeal he went through at the hands of other humans.
Over time, Sylvester healed completely. His coat grew back fully, leaving no evidence of his horrific past. Sylvester looked like a brand-new dog! Looking at him now, it’s hard to believe that he’s the same dog who was unrecognizable not so long ago.
Sylvester Is Searching for His Forever Person
From the moment Sylvester arrived at the shelter, he’s been a beacon of happiness. This resilient, goofy boy radiates joy like he’s never known pain. Sylvester loves being around people and greets every new person like they are an old friend. Everyone at the shelter has learned a solid lesson from him: that it’s better to embrace new beginnings than dwell on the past.
