Scared & Alone, Two Stray Puppies Living in Construction Site Find Their Fairy Tale Ending
Left to fend for themselves and face the dangers of the world alone, the plight of stray dogs across the globe can bring any animal lover to tears. On the brighter side, though, countless strays out there are enjoying a second chance at life, all thanks to empathy-driven individuals who resolve to make a difference in the lives of these forsaken animals.
A good example of strays whose lives took a wonderful turn are Lina and Sophie, who grew up in the harsh streets of Thailand with nothing, not even the comfort of their mother. All they had was each other, and life was too brutal for these two young, innocent dogs.
Lina and Sophie often sought refuge in a construction building, where their quest for safety was threatened on a daily basis. Unkind humans working at the construction site would constantly throw stones at them, and these experiences made Lina and Sophie develop an intense fear of people. What’s more heartrending is that people at the construction site had plans to poison Lina and Sophie if they continued living there.
Thankfully, Happy Doggo — one of Thailand’s largest animal charities dedicated to helping stray dogs — was alerted to the pups’ dire situation and responded before it was too late (watch the video below).
A Heartfelt Rescue
Because of the consistent cruelty humans showed them, Lina and Sophie had no trust in people. For this reason, the Happy Doggo rescue team — led by the organization’s founder, Niall Harbison — had to be extra gentle and patient while rescuing these two visibly shaken pups.
Getting a hold of Lina and Sophie wasn’t easy, but the rescuers eventually did. It took some time for the two pups to relax and see that Niall and his team were there to help, not harm them.
Surviving Parvovirus
A few days after their rescue, Lina and Sophie, unfortunately, contracted Parvovirus. This was a major blow to their health since they were already struggling with a weakened immune system after spending their entire lives on the streets. Lina and Sophie spent several weeks at the vet, receiving round-the-clock care to ensure they pulled through. Thankfully, they made a full recovery.
The weeks following their recovery were challenging for the Happy Doggo team as they worked to rebuild Lina and Sophie’s confidence. It took a lot of patience and persistence to eventually get the two pups to drop their guard around humans. Then, after months of emotional healing while under the care of the Happy Doggos team, Lina and Sophie found their forever homes — all the way in England!

Since they were born a year ago… 🇹🇭 Born on the streets in Thailand 🐕 Grew up as puppies on a construction site 🪨 Had people throw rocks at them to chase them away 🦠 We were given 24 hours to rescue them or they would be poisoned 🤒 Shortly after rescuing them they got Parvo. They lost their little brother but they both survived. It was touch and go for 2 whole weeks on a drip in the vets 😳 They were in quarantine for another 4 weeks and become utterly terrified of all humans 📅 After months of slowly training and meeting their new owners who came to visit they slowly came out of their shells. ✈️ Their next challenge was their flight to England to their forever homes. These 2 girls have overcome all that in just 1 year and look at them now. It's amazing to me that they have patient and caring owners who are willing to put so much time into their wellbeing. We do the bit at the start not the wonderful adopters take over the care and being patient with these dogs for life. It's a big ask compared to just getting a cute local puppy. They are still slowly settling in and decompressing but look at their happy little faces. A New Lease on Life
Now all grown, Lina and Sophie are living life to the fullest in their forever homes in England. They have loving families who make them feel cherished and cared for, a befitting end to their heartbreaking beginnings. Lina and Sophie’s story is not just a rescue tale but a profound reminder of the impact of compassion and teamwork on forsaken animals like stray dogs.
