Candace (Luna&Desmond’s Owner):
I don’t even know, I just think that sometimes the universe just puts two souls together for the best reason. Yeah. I think they honestly were just meant to be together.
These two Pitties saved each other when they needed love the most.
I was told by someone that there was a dog living in someone’s yard and she was being chained up because she was continually escaping out of their yard. I, I got a hold of the people who own the property who live there. They actually told me they were gonna take her to a shelter cuz they didn’t want her anymore. I told them that I was very interested in, in rescuing her and taking her and they did give me permission to remove her off of the property. She was pretty shut down, pretty emotionless. I don’t know, just kind of lived day to day, just kind of ate, slept, kind of went for a walk, which just didn’t really ever seem for a long time, didn’t really seem happy, empty. And I think, you know, she just hadn’t had a lot of love.
After almost two years of being an only dog, Desmond came along.
He was living as a stray about three hours north of where we live. He was really thin and he was only about 10 months old at the time. I was also given permission by someone living in the area, like he just confirmed that we don’t know where this dog came from and I brought them in the house. They went right into playing and Luna wasn’t even playful before and it was just, I just never seen her, you know, just, it was just amazing. Like it was just immediate. Desmond, I remember just clung to Luna. He was just immediately beside her. And I remember taking them for a walk together and it was just like, they’d been together their whole life. I just think that they maybe knew that they had dealt with a lot of the same stuff in the past, just, you know, neglect and some abuse and not having a home.
These do are complete opposites of each other, but sometimes two different personalities form a relationship that last a lifetime.
Yeah, they actually are very opposite. To be honest, Luna actually is quite calm. She’s very gentle. She’s super cuddly. So you can literally hold her like baby, you can put her on her back and she will cuddle with you anytime. And Desmond is like a cyclone in the house. He is really hyper he’s a lot of energy. He is very vocal. He has been since the day I brought him home and he gets really vocal when he’s really, really happy or when he’s really enjoying something. And I do think they just balance each other out so well. Their number one favorite thing to do is swim. We take them swimming once a week to a lady’s these house, about 30 minutes away from us. And they know when we’re making a turn about a minute away and they start screaming in the car and they, they’re so loud. And you know, if anything that they they’ve taught me is, you know, just to love unconditionally and don’t put terms on, on your love. Like they’re just, they, you know, like I said, they’re actually quite opposite in, in regards to energy levels, but you know, to see how they, how much they love each other and how in sync and in tune they are with each other is yeah a great lesson for sure.
