Miraculous Transformation of Two Horribly Neglected Dogs (They Now Have a Personal Chef)
Every dog deserves to experience all the good things in life, given the depth of love and loyalty they extend to us at every opportunity.
Sadly, there’s never a shortage of dogs who are victims of neglect; neglect that leaves their fragile existence engulfed by the darkness of their plight. On the brighter side, though, it’s safe to say that there’s also no shortage of dogs whose lives changed forever thanks to the compassionate acts of certain individuals.
Among these lucky dogs are Faith and Phoenix, who are now living lives they never imagined, not even in their wildest dreams. These two siblings, both roughly four years old, were victims of appalling neglect, and were it not for the rescue team at Happy Doggo — a Thailand-based animal rescue charity with a deep-seated love and empathy for stray dogs — they wouldn’t be where they are today. As Niall Harbison, founder of Happy Doggo, once said, “I am a believer in second chances, and that’s what these animals deserve.”
The Horrors of Neglect
When the Happy Doggo team, led by Niall Harbison, was alerted to Faith and Phoenix’s predicament, they never expected that this particular rescue — out of the countless rescues they’ve carried out so far — would turn out to be the worst case of neglect they’ve ever handled.
They found the two dogs chained in a filthy cage, with the overpowering stench of suffering and neglect hanging thick in the air. Faith and Phoenix were in a horrendous physical state, so much so that it was initially hard for the rescuers to tell the two were indeed dogs.
According to the rescuers, Faith and Phoenix’s coats were grossly matted with poop and urine. Shockingly, Faith, in particular, was plagued by maggots crawling in and out of one of her eyes. She had deep, raw wounds around her eyes, making her pain obvious to the rescuers.
Start of A New Chapter
With unshaken determination, Niall and his team got busy rescuing Faith and Phoenix from their dire circumstances. They liberated them from the oppressive chains, marking the start of their journey toward a life of freedom and happiness.
In addition to receiving treatment for their respective conditions, the two dogs underwent a thorough grooming session that cleared away any lingering evidence of their horrendous past. Faith and Phoenix found themselves in a safe, nurturing environment, surrounded by people doing everything to see them thrive.
@happydoggoniall Every time we look at Faith and Phoenix we’re reminded of what love can do. Theirs was possibly the worst case of neglect we had ever seen. Faith was sitting in the cage with her fur all black and raw and sodden, and maggots crawling in and out of her eyes. We couldn’t even tell that she was a dog. It’s taken us a few weeks but we’re so happy whenever we look at how they’re doing now: swimming on the beach, enjoying a specially curated charcuterie plate picnic by their personal chef Lana Chapman, and running around the land doing zoomies. They make us so proud of what we do. They remind us why we do this. Phoenix and Faith. Our heroes. 🦸🏻🦸🏻♀️ #dogsoftiktok #dogs #rescuedog ♬ An emotional and happy song (long) – bunka
A Fairy Tale Ending
Faith and Phoenix have fully recovered and are living their best lives at Happy Doggo as they await adoption. Going for walks and swimming at the beach has become a part of their routine, and the indescribable joy they radiate while doing these activities can warm the coldest of hearts.
Best of all, Faith and Phoenix enjoy nutritious picnic meals curated by their personal chef, luxuries they never thought they’d get to enjoy.

“Faith and Phoenix’s transformation shows us that with love and care, even the most neglected dogs can find joy. Their story reminds us why rescue work is so vital.” said Rocky Kanaka, pet rescue advocate.
Thanks to the Happy Doggo team and everyone involved in their recovery, Phoenix and Faith have a brighter future ahead, a stark contrast to their miserable beginnings.
