Malnourished Dog Rescued From Overheated Car Thought Life Could Never Get Better — Until This Happened

Almost anyone who bumps into Eliza’s videos on social media right now will instantly assume that she’s just another happy, spoiled dog living the life of her dreams. (Watch Video Below)

But you’d be heartbroken to learn that just a few weeks ago, Eliza came close to death after she and 31 other dogs were found cramped in an overheated vehicle without the slightest ventilation, let alone a running AC. The rising temperatures had turned the parked car into a furnace, and with no way out, Eliza and the other dogs were left at the mercy of the sweltering heat. By the time they were rescued, some of the dogs were already shutting down with visible signs of heat stroke

@acrewofrescues Eliza has been with us for two weeks now after being rescued from a hoarding situation where she was one of 32 dogs being kept in an overheated car. Her and many others had severe skin conditions that needed immediate treatment, along with other medical issues. While in our care, she has not only gotten those issues addressed and treated, but she’s also starting to heal internally. Fur is growing and so is her confidence. She’s so playful and spunky and situations that once brought her fear are now met with courage. We can’t wait to see Eliza continue to thrive and heal and eventually get the forever family she deserves ♥️ #foster #adopt #rescue #comeback #dog #cute #survivor ♬ Almost forgot that this was the whole point – Take my Hand Instrumental – AntonioVivald

Eliza, in particular, was rescued with a severe case of Mange along with other health issues. She had missing fur in almost all areas of her body, a tell-tell sign of the unthinkable, prolonged neglect that she had endured. Lucky for Eliza, this life-changing rescue led her into a loving foster home that was willing to give her all the love and care she needed to rise above her physical & emotional pain.

Two Weeks of Miraculous Progress

In a video posted by Eliza’s foster parents on their TikTok account @acrewofrescues, it’s now been about two weeks since this resilient pup arrived in her foster home.

Eliza began treatment for all her health concerns immediately after she was brought home. Though she still has a long way to go as far as total physical healing is concerned, the soothing ointments, gentle baths, and comfy pajamas are doing wonders on her Mange-stricken body.

Eliza is also getting all the nourishing meals she needs to hit a healthy weight. Most of all, in just two weeks, Eliza is no longer the broken, hopeless dog she was when she first came home. The love she’s received from her foster family from day one has transformed her into a dog she never imagined she’d be.

No Sad Days, Just Pure Happiness

For Eliza, having comfy blankets and countless toys to call her own once seemed like a far-fetched dream. Now, that’s her current reality. She’s in a home where meals are consistent, beds feel soft, voices sound gentle, and temperatures feel just right.

In such a short time, Eliza has experienced what freedom, safety, and genuine happiness taste like. It’s in how she constantly seeks out affection from her humans, the way she playfully interacts with the other foster dogs in the home, and how she rolls over in joy, paws in the air, when no one’s watching.

For the first time in her life, Eliza is experiencing the kinder side of life, all thanks to her wonderful foster family that saw her worthy of a second chance.

“Eliza is not just a survivor of a horrifying ordeal. She is a symbol of what love can do to a dog who’s known nothing but suffering all their life,” pet rescue advocate Rocky Kanaka says.
