Lovable Dog Has Spent 2 Years Watching Friends Go Home—But No One Has Ever Applied for Him
If you ask staff members and volunteers at the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society to name their favorite dog at the shelter, they’ll all have the same response: Puffs, a 3-year-old Boxer.
@savethedogs He’s been in here for 2 YEARS!! He’s only 3 years old 😔 that’s almost his whole life! When i was asked the @San Gabriel Valley Humane which dog has been here the longest, one of the volunteers cried when she showed me Puffs. He is the volunteers FAVORITE dog. He’s SO Sweet and so lovable. He LOVES Playtime and just wants the volunteers to hold him like a big baby. He came in as a stray and has never once had an application or any interest from potential adopters 😔 we don’t understand why but what we do know is the right person or family meant for him is out there ❤️ I pray they come across this and feel that special tug in their heart, knowing that Puffs is meant to be with them. He’s waited so long to be held like a baby and sleep in a warm bed with his owner. Despite how exceptionally loveable he is, Puffs has clocked two years at the shelter and has, unfortunately, earned the uncoveted title of the longest resident. What’s even sadder about Puffs’s situation is that ever since he arrived at the Humane Society, he’s made many doggie friends who’ve all been adopted. Yes, sweet Puffs has watched all his four-legged buddies go home with their forever families, while he remains behind the bars of his kennel, wondering why he’s so unlucky.
Even though his wait for a forever home has stretched longer than he anticipated, Puffs tries his best to keep the hope alive.
Zero Attention from Adopters
It’s hard to imagine this handsome boy, known for his heart of gold, has never had a single adoption application, let alone enjoyed the attention of potential adopters from his kennel. Puffs has gotten used to seeing would-be adopters bonding with other dogs in the opposite kennels while he’s simply ignored.
Truth is, those who’ve overlooked Puffs have missed out on an oh-so-sweet dog who effortlessly charms his way into everyone’s heart with his incredible personality. Volunteers at the shelter adore Puffs, so much so that one even sobbed a little when they were asked about how long this pup has been at the shelter.
Puffs was brought in as a stray, but the exact details of his past are sketchy. All in all, the shelter won’t stop rooting for him to land a loving forever home because they know without a doubt that he truly deserves it.
