Her Tail Grew Into Her Body—Now Lorella the Frenchie Is Fighting for Her Life
As demand for French Bulldogs continues to soar across the U.S., so do the heartbreaking consequences of unethical breeding. Lorella and Corbert, two Frenchies rescued from a shelter by Southern California–based Roadogs Rescue, are among the latest victims of this crisis. (Watch Video Below)
@roadogsrescue ‼️Warning: Graphic Content‼️ Two days ago, we rescued Lorella and Corbert. In just 48 hours, we’ve been left heartbroken and speechless. Lorella is suffering from an excruciating, infected, ingrown tail — a result of being bred for appearance, not health. She's been forced to live in this condition, even having puppies like this. Corbert, on the other hand, has congenital issues so severe he can barely walk. These are not isolated incidents — they are the tragic cost of unethical breeding. This is why we speak out. This is why we fight. Breeding dogs for traits like exaggerated "ropes," flat faces, or curled tails comes with hidden, devastating consequences — both visible and invisible. It’s not just about how they look. It’s about how much they suffer. As a rescue, we’re committed to saving them — but it’s a huge emotional and financial burden. We cannot do it alone. Please help us give Lorella and Corbert the care they desperately need and help us spread the word. ❤️🩹 Venmo: @roadogsrescue (under Charities) ❤️🩹 CashApp: \$roadogsrescue ❤️🩹 PayPal: [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) ❤️🩹 Check: Road Dogs & Rescue 25131 Narbonne Ave #4#489omita, CA 90717 ❤️🩹 Website: roadogs.org/donate #frenchbulldog #frenchiesoftiktok #bigropefrenchie #fyp ♬ Éphémère – Tony Anderson
Just 48 hours after their freedom walk, the rescue team discovered something devastating. Lorella is suffering from a painful, infected ingrown tail, while Corbert has such severe congenital deformities that he can barely walk. Both dogs are now fighting for comfort, care, and a chance to live.
The Dark Side of Breeding for Looks
The rescue attributes Lorella and Corbert’s heartbreaking conditions to irresponsible, unethical breeding practices. According to them, many breeders prioritize appearance over health, resulting in puppies born with painful, preventable issues.

Lorella’s tail is completely ingrown, causing her ongoing pain and discomfort. Instead of providing her with proper veterinary care, her breeder ignored her suffering and continued to breed her.
Roadogs highlights Lorella’s case as a clear example of the dangers of breeding for extreme features. Frenchies are often bred for exaggerated traits like flat faces, deep skin folds, and curled tails, but these can come at a devastating cost to their health.

Now, Lorella needs a costly and risky tail amputation surgery. It’s a responsibility that should have fallen on the breeder—but instead, the rescue is left to raise funds to give this sweet Frenchie the care she desperately needs.
Despite the odds, Roadogs is determined to give both Lorella and Corbert a fighting chance. They’re calling on their community through a TikTok video to donate whatever they can and help provide the urgent medical treatment these dogs so desperately need.

These Frenchies’ story have struck a chord with several TikTok users, with one of them commenting under the TikTok video, “Seeing these videos makes me cry. We as humans are truly awful. Road Dogs you’re amazing and seeing these videos under your care I know these dogs will know love and get proper care. Thank you.”
Rocky Kanaka, a pet rescue advocate, also weighed in, saying, “This is what happens when profit comes before compassion. Lorella and Corbert didn’t ask to be born into pain—they deserve love, not suffering. We need to do better for these dogs.”
