When Birdie arrived at the Southern California-based rescue, she was in heartbreaking condition. Neglect had ravaged her body, and her skin told a story of suffering. Soon after, she was diagnosed with skin cancer. But thanks to dedicated medical care and multiple surgeries, Birdie is now cancer-free, healthy, and ready to find the forever home she’s been waiting for.
Brave Dog’s Incredible Transformation

Roadogs recently shared Birdie’s journey on social media, showing just how far she’s come since her first day at the rescue—171 days ago.
Back then, she was a shell of a dog, head hung low and body trembling, weighed down by heartbreak and physical pain. She was so shut down that she couldn’t even make eye contact with the humans trying to help her.
Thanks to the medical treatment, surgeries, and an outpouring of love in her foster home, Birdie has blossomed into an incredible dog. She now holds her head high, confidently meeting the eyes of the people around her and gently asking for pets and affection. She even runs and plays with her foster fursibling, a joyful reminder of how far she’s come.

No longer sad or withdrawn, Birdie is thriving—happier, healthier, and more full of life than ever before.
Can You Give Birdie A Second Chance?
What makes Birdie the perfect canine companion? This sweet senior girl adores humans and children alike, and she’s both house-trained and crate-trained. A low-energy cuddle bug, Birdie would much rather snuggle up beside you than go on long adventures. She also has a soft spot for toys, cozy naps, and soaking up the sunshine—simple joys that make her heart happy.

Birdie would do best in a home where she’s the only dog or with older, calmer canine companions. All she truly needs is a loving human and a soft bed—and in return, she’ll be the happiest, most grateful dog you’ve ever met.
Pet Rescue Advocate Rocky Kanaka says, “Birdie is the kind of dog who reminds us what true resilience looks like. She’s been through so much, yet all she wants is love and a place to rest her head. Dogs like her don’t just need a home—they deserve one.”
