Dog Rescued in Remote Island With Missing Hind Limbs Now Living Life to the Fullest
We’ll never tire of saying this: nothing beats extending compassion and kindness to dogs in dire need. Countless dogs out there are thriving in ways they never imagined were possible, all thanks to kind individuals who made it their mission to rescue them from their grim circumstances.
One such dog is Zeek, whose past street life was characterized by distressing experiences. Zeek was found dumped on a remote Island in Curaçao, Southern Caribbean, starving, with his tail and hind limbs missing. Going by his heart-wrenching physical state, it was obvious that Zeek — who was barely eight months old when he was discovered — had endured the unimaginable as a stray.
When his rescuers found him, he was too terrified of human touch, possibly triggered by his horrible experiences with people he encountered in his life. Still, his tail wagged tentatively, and his eyes glimmered with faint hope, indicating his will to live. Despite Zeek’s initial resistance, his rescuers remained steadfast in their goal: to turn his life around.
The Healing Journey
A scared Zeek eventually accepted his rescuers’ help, and they wasted no time seeking medical help for him. Veterinarians discovered Zeek had tick disease and various skin conditions, making his plight more sorrowful. Thankfully, Zeek was under the care of people who were willing to go above and beyond to better his health.
Veterinarians tended to him, addressing all his health issues, including his missing libs. Eventually, Zeek’s health took a wonderful turn, and his vets gave the green light for him to get prosthetic legs to aid his mobility.
Meeting His Forever Person
As Zeek was receiving treatment back in Curaçao, his story had captured the heart of one kind individual in the U.S. — Debbie Pearl, an animal lover with a particularly soft spot for disabled dogs.
Debbie made up her mind to adopt Zeek and add him to the pack of amazing disabled dogs that she’d already opened her home to. Once Zeek was stable enough, Debbie traveled to Curaçao to get him. Her decision indeed changed Zeek’s life forever, as he’s now living his best life in a home that offers him the love and security he never thought he’d ever experience.

Zeek was barely 8 months old and had been starved, disfigured, and tortured – and he hadn't even reached his first birthday yet. He proved to be a fighter though. A treatment plan for his legs, his tick disease and skin conditions were set up and doctors advised his rescuers that, given some time, Zeeky would be a candidate for prosthetic legs. Fast forward it’s been a road of ups and downs loosing one of his back legs even though it wasn’t functional to where Zeek is today. UNSTOPPABLE 🦾

An Unstoppable Zeek
Zeek is a true survivor of his unimaginable past, and he spends each day making up for all the time he lost while suffering in the streets. Now fitted with prosthetic legs, absolutely nothing gets in the way of Zeek living his best life, as documented on Debbie’s TikTok account @theunstopabbledogs.
The pure joy that graces Zeek’s face as he races on the lawn or beach with his other siblings can melt the coldest of hearts. His journey from a starving, abused stray dog to a cherished household dog full of life is indeed a testament to the healing power of second chances.
