Zoe is a 1yr old Belgian Malinois that was owner surrendered to Category 5 K9 as part of our Shelter to Search program. Unfortunately Zoe gets too nervous in strange places and around strange people to be a search dog. When she’s around people she trusts and in an environment she is comfortable in she’s a confident, high energy, pushy, Velcro malinois.
When she’s nervous she avoids strangers and tries to hide behind her people or run away. Zoe does not like being crated and has to be bribed with treats to go in one but once in a crate she will sleep there quietly when no one is home or overnight. She is house trained and her original owner said she was well behaved loose in the house except the occasional counter surfing where she might try to steal something that smells delicious.
Zoe’s ideal life involves a game of fetch in the yard and then sitting right next to you either on the couch or by your feet. She would do better in a home that does not have a lot of strangers visiting as they make her nervous. Zoe is 50lbs, spayed, microchipped, current on vaccines. She’s a little nervous with strange dogs and can be rude initially but she is not aggressive and she has played with other dogs at the rescue with no issues. We do not recommend her for a home with children due to her nervous nature.
