Meet Koda!
Overview: Koda is an 11-month-old Labrador Retriever mix with a sweet and playful disposition. His adoption fee is $350.00.
Background: Having had two owners already, Koda can be a bit distrustful at first but becomes an instant best buddy once he warms up. He’s a big teddy bear who loves to cuddle once he feels secure.
Behavior and Training:
- Social Skills: Koda is shy and may take some time to warm up, especially to men. He interacts well with kids (though introductions should be supervised) and gets along great with other dogs. A canine companion in his new home would be beneficial.
- Training: Responsive to correction and learns quickly. He is potty trained but tends to pull on the leash.
- Home Requirements: Needs a fenced yard and is not suited for apartment living.
Adoption Details: Koda’s adoption includes current vaccinations (DHLPP, Kennel Cough, and Rabies if over 13 weeks), spay/neuter, deworming, heartworm testing (if over 1 year old), and preventative treatments for heartworm, fleas, and ticks. He will go to his new home with a collar, leash, and vaccination record.
Additional Support: Ruff House in Fort Wayne has offered free training sessions and some doggie daycare days to Koda’s adopter.
Process: Please note that during initial “Meet and Greet” sessions, which can last 30 minutes to 1 hour, Koda may not fully show his personality. Adopters should be prepared to allow him time to acclimate fully at home. Once settled, Koda is expected to be very loyal and affectionate.
