Adopted as a puppy by a well-meaning single mom, Southpaw quickly outgrew the constraints of a small apartment, long workdays, and little stimulation. Despite bonding closely with her 6-year-old son, Southpaw spent most of his days crated, and his natural energy and affection were mistaken for anxiety. Tensions rose with her cats, and ultimately, Southpaw was surrendered to a shelter in April.
A group of advocates stepped in quickly, placing him with a new family—complete with a yard, children, and rescue dogs. Though his initial days were joyful and he adored the kids, the family rushed integration with their existing pets. A couple of resource-guarding incidents followed, and Southpaw was returned to the shelter. He now faces euthanasia within days unless someone steps forward.
