Ricky’s story begins in one of the hardest places a dog can come from—but it doesn’t end there.

This resilient pup was rescued from a heartbreaking hoarding situation in New Mexico, where he lived inside a camper with more than 20 other dogs. Space was tight, care was limited, and stability was almost nonexistent. But somehow, Ricky made it through all of that without losing his spark.

Now, he’s stepping into a completely different world—and discovering that life can actually be fun.

Ricky will be available to meet starting 6/27 by appointment only (approved application required).

Why Ricky Feels So Special

🐾 Survivor of a hoarding situation with 20+ dogs in a camper
🐶 Deeply dog-social and happiest with canine companions
💦 Loves splashing in kiddie pools and outdoor play
🎾 Enjoys toys, romping, and group play with dog friends
🌿 Equally happy relaxing in the shade after a good play session

Personality Snapshot

Ricky is what happens when resilience meets joy.

Despite his difficult beginnings, he hasn’t shut down or withdrawn—instead, he leans into connection, especially with other dogs. Canine companionship brings out his happiest, most playful side. He thrives in environments where he has friends to romp with, chase around a yard, and share daily life.

But Ricky isn’t all go-go-go.

He also knows how to slow down. After playtime, he’s just as content to stretch out on a comfy bed, enjoy the quiet, and simply exist in a safe, calm space. That balance—playful and easygoing—is a big part of what makes him so easy to love.

He’s kennel-comfortable, improving on leash skills, and has no issues around treats. Every day, he’s learning that life doesn’t have to be about survival anymore—it can be about enjoyment.
