RALEIGH, N.C. – Honey, a resilient 4-year-old Hound mix, has spent the past several months as a devoted mom, ensuring her puppies found loving families. Her journey began as a stray, with no family to claim her. When Best Friend Pet Adoption (BFPA) took Honey in, they soon discovered she was pregnant. Honey gave birth to ten beautiful puppies, and while she faced challenges, seven of them survived under her care. Today, all seven puppies have been adopted, and it’s finally Honey’s turn to find her own forever home.

Weighing 50 pounds, Honey is a gentle, intelligent companion who is both housebroken and crate-trained. While she settles willingly into her crate, she’s happiest sleeping in her foster’s bedroom at night, no longer needing to be confined. Honey’s low-to-moderate activity level makes her an ideal match for a home with a fenced yard and a peaceful setting.

While Honey thrives in calm environments, she can be reactive around other dogs on walks, making her best suited to an experienced dog owner who understands her need for space. She is alert and lets her family know when others are nearby, so she may not be the right fit for apartment living or close quarters with neighboring homes. Honey has a special bond with her humans and does best when someone is home most of the time. She’s a true “cuddle-bug,” often close to her human friends and offering her paw for affection.

Though initially shy, Honey warms up to people quickly, especially with a few treats. If her forever family includes children, she would do best with older teens who understand and respect her boundaries. Honey prefers to be the only dog in the household, though she would do just fine with a cat sibling.

Honey has also shown herself to be a quick learner, mastering many commands and actively working with a trainer to build her skills. She’s playful with her toys, affectionate, and smart, making her a remarkable companion ready to be loved.

Adopters interested in meeting Honey must live within an hour of Raleigh/Cary, NC, to ensure continuity of her care through BFPA’s trusted network. The adoption process includes guidance from her foster family to help ease Honey’s transition to her new home.

After months of caring for her puppies and seeing them off to loving families, Honey is now hoping for her own happily-ever-after. Could you be the one to welcome this loyal, sweet girl home?
