When rescuers took her in, Athena was suffering terribly—her environmental allergies were so severe that she had been chewing her own skin raw. With extensive veterinary care, she was finally made comfortable and given a second chance at life.

For several wonderful years, Athena found stability with a loving elderly woman who adored her. But heartbreak struck again when her adopter had to move into assisted living where pets weren’t allowed. With the home being sold, Athena once again found herself searching for somewhere to belong.
